At the start of its second term in office the State Government created the
position of Commissioner for Social Inclusion.
In May 2006, Premier Mike Rann appointed Monsignor David Cappo, Chair of the
Social Inclusion Board, to the position. The aim is to strengthen his
ability to influence the development and implementation of social policy.
Monsignor Cappo continues as the Chair of the Social Inclusion Board – a role
he has held since March 2002.
As Commissioner for Social Inclusion, Monsignor Cappo drives a joined-up
approach to social policy development and service delivery in the public sector.
He monitors the implementation of all the Social Inclusion programs and reports
regularly to the Premier on the Social Inclusion Initiative.
