The Social Inclusion Board was established in 2002 to advise the South Australian Government on new ways to achieve better outcomes for the most disadvantaged people in our community.
This includes identifying collaborative actions that can be taken across government to address specific issues and proposing partnerships between State Government and others sectors.
Once Cabinet has agreed on priority directions, lead Ministers implement Government action through Inter-Ministerial Councils which include Ministerial, Chief Executive and Treasury membership.
The Board reports to the Premier. In addition to the Chair, it comprises of community leaders who each bring their experience and expertise as well as established links across non-government organisations, the business sector, and the broader community.
This enables the Board to:
- build partnerships
- work with all spheres of government
- maximise the advantage of using cross-sectoral knowledge and resources.
The Social Inclusion Board analyses the causes of major social issues facing our community and presents action plans for innovative and joined-up solutions.
Acting in accordance with agreed terms of reference, it also closely monitors the implementation of these action plans, and supports Ministers to keep their agencies focused on achieving the targets that have been set.
The Social Inclusion Unit supports the work of the Board.
